Gilby's Backstory

Gilby the Gecko was founded to help children tap into their natural curiosity while gaining valuable life skills. Through Gilby’s adventures, children and adults can immerse themselves into the world of first responders while learning fire and life safety.

Angela worked in fire education for a decade and was frustrated by the lack of child-appropriate content for fire and life safety curriculum. Then one day, a small gecko scampered across her office window, and she realized she could tell the story herself. What if a gecko stumbled upon her fire station? Where would he go? Who would he meet? What would he learn? The idea incubated for a few years until she met a creative partner, Perry, who could help her bring Gilby’s world to life through illustrated children's books.
